The fine folk at Lancashire’s petite beats fest Beat-Herder approached JUJU to create a short film of their latest outing. They’d seen our recent films for The Secret Garden Party and wanted us to produce a film for their own festival in our distinctive house style which focuses on the festival participants. With the finished short film http://www.beatherder.co.uk being cut to Northern Soul Wigan Casino anthem, Flasher Mistura, it celebrates the Northern party spirit at its best.
In the finished film we wanted to show the scope of the festival by incorporating both chill out and all-out rave festival scenes, while maintaining continuity, so in the edit chose to focus attention on the on-stage musicians throughout the film.
Managing workflow between footage from four cameras, our in-house Panasonic HVX 201, a Canon 7D, a Panasonic AG-AF 101E, and a Go-Pro, was quite a challenge, but careful attention on Final Cut and a final grade deploying Magic Bullet smoothed out the kinks.
Beatherdshire’s finest were thrilled with the finished film – and also with the over 2k extra hits their popular website garnered during the first week of the film being posted. The festival sells out annually but an important part of their ethos is about going the extra mile to add to the experience of their loyal party goers and the film enables them to do just that.
